Do you have a high energy dog breed?

High Energy Dog Breeds

🐕 In Australia, we see plenty of high energy dog breeds. Us Aussies are an active bunch, so perhaps we like to have our furry friends often join us on morning walks or midday beach trips.

🏃🏼‍♀️ So what is a high energy dog breed ? We’ve got the Kelpie, Husky, Beagle, Border Collie, Australian Shepard, Cattle Dog and the list goes on...

🤦🏼‍♀️ Without daily walks and mental stimulation, many owners find themselves with a dog that wreaks havoc in the garden or constantly chews things that they shouldn’t be.

🤓 In order to curb these unwanted behaviours, it’s vital that high energy breeds get enough physical and mental stimulation. Chances are that they’re a smart, highly motivated dog that will jump at the chance to do something with their hooman .

So, what can you do as a pet parent to a high energy dog breed?

➡️ practice more complex commands like ‘crawl’, ‘wait’ and ‘fetch’
➡️ spend more time doing high-intensity activities like hiking or swimming
➡️ provide stimulating dog toys that make them work for their food i.e. treat dispensing balls, kongs or even cardboard boxes!
➡️ find other doggy friends that they can play and run with
➡️ play nose work games like “go-find-it”
➡️ look into dog sports like agility, disc throwing and herding
➡️ and of course, DAILY DOG WALKS! We can help with that! 😉

❤️ When you provide physical exercise AND mental stimulation, you’ll come home to a happier and healthier dog.
